David Demos President and Chief Executive Officer, InStar Services Group
Dave Demos is President and Chief Executive Officer of InStar Services Group, a disaster recovery and restoration services provider. In May of 2003, while serving on the Board of Directors and chairing the InStar National Marketing Committee, Dave assumed leadership of InStar and began laying the foundation for a world-class, nationwide company with a platform of offerings in the commercial, insurance, multi-family and residential insurance markets.
Dave is an entrepreneur and businessman with 35 years of experience in the property and furniture restoration industry. In 1989, Demos founded Action Fire Restoration, which later became a subsidiary of InStar Services Group, Inc. Previously, he managed M. Demos and Son, Inc. and was a real estate development principal for Renaissance Realty. He also developed risk management programs for the multi-family industry and is an accomplished antique restorer.
Dave was one of the founders of the northeast division of Disaster Kleenup International, the restoration industry's largest trade association, and served as its Vice President from 1992 to 1995. He served as a member of the Association of Cleaning and Restoration Specialists, the National Institute of Disaster Restoration, and the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce.
He also served on the Director’s group of the Shriners Hospital for Children and as Chairman of the Board for the Greater Springfield, Massachusetts, YMCA. He was the first Chairman of the Board of the Scantic Valley YMCA and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for AAA and the Board of Corporators for Hampden Savings Bank. He is also a lecturer for the Connecticut Valley Historical Society.
Under Dave’s chairmanship, the YMCA built a facility for underprivileged children in one of the highest poverty areas in the country and another facility in the greater Springfield suburbs. Dave received the most prestigious award given by the YMCA, the Red Triangle Award.
He holds a BS in Accounting and Economics from the College of the Holy Cross. He and his wife, Judy, have three children, Adam, Danielle and David.
